DESCRIPTION:"When Harvard was founded in 1636\, Latin was the primary language of instruction. The Yale valedictorians of classes 1785 and 1792 delivered their addresses in Hebrew. Even as late as 1857\, a Greek salutatory oration was given at the University of Pennsylvania's commencement ceremony. Latin\, Greek\, and Hebrew had a central role in the education of Americans for the first 200+ years. These languages are now hardly studied and very few gain useful proficiency in them.\n \n I make a case for why learning these three ancient languages is so important for our culture. After showing their importance\, I introduce modern learning science theories and how they can transform learning efficiency in any domain. I demonstrate how such theories can be applied to Latin\, Greek\, and Hebrew\, so that your child (and you!) can learn these languages at any age and in the most efficient way possible (as a personal testimony\, my son was reading Hebrew at 4). As a homeschool dad myself\, I also discuss my firsthand experience of teaching my own kids Greek and Hebrew."
